Vlas: Hello! Thank you for talking with us. Please introduce yourself to us and our readers and tell them a little about your role with Oddin.gg.
My work experience is mostly connected with software development. I have a background in Cybernetics & Intelligent Buildings. I began as a mobile programmer, moved to the cloud and ended up with AI. In 2015, I started my esports career when I joined one the first esports startup companies. We went bankrupt because the market wasn’t ready. Oddin.gg was founded in 2018 after I realized that there was still potential. We have become a multi-award winner B2B provider for esports betting odds, risk management and iFrame. I lead the IT, Data Processing, and Business Intelligence part of the business, as well as the top-level management duties.
Since the early 2010, Esports has been a hot topic in the gaming industry. It was dubbed “the future” of iGaming. During the pandemic, many sports-based games became the preferred sportsbook option instead of actual events. What is the current position of eSports on the market?
Now we are in a fully recovered market, which has gotten rid of all the anomalies that Covid caused. The esports industry is undergoing consolidation. Teams, brands, platforms and all other parts of the ecosystem are becoming more professional. This process will have winners and losers. All key metrics show significant growth. The esports industry is expected to generate $10 billion in revenue this year. We expect revenue to grow at a CAGR of 8 to 13% per year (CAGR from 2023 to 2028). The biggest market for esports, esports gambling, is where we operate. The market is expected to reach US$10 billion in 2023 and an estimated US$24 billion in 2028. We have plenty of room to offer a much more engaging esports experience for spectators.
