British Esports announced that registrations are now open for the Winter Split 2023/24 of the Student Champs.
The British Esports Students Champs features some of the most popular and biggest esports titles available today. These include; League of Legends and Overwatch 2. Rocket League, Valorant and Valorant. This is the UK’s largest amateur grassroots tournament for students 12+ at secondary schools and colleges.
The Student Champs, which aims to identify the next generation in amateur esports talent in 2022/23, featured more than 200 schools and colleges, 500 teams, and over 5000 students. This culminated in a final that was watched by a live crowd and garnered over 1/4 million views on Twitch.
The 2023/24 season will see the launch of the Open and Nationals. These competitions are designed to highlight the best talent and teams on a national scale. They also include the StreetFighter 6, Apex Legends and the Women in Esports Cup, in partnership Williams Esports.
The Open offers a competition with lower stakes and is perfect for those who are taking their first steps into competitive schools and colleges esports.
The Nationals is all about the top talent. It features the best teams in the UK, and each title is limited to only one institution. The Student Champs 2023/24 season will culminate with a live LAN final held at The Arena in Sunderland, the new multi-functional esports, creative and performance complex that is part of British Esports’ National Esports Performance Campus.
British Esports has announced that as part of their ongoing collaboration with College of Esports (the world’s premier university-level institution dedicated exclusively to esports) all broadcast productions for the British Esports Open Division will be produced exclusively by College of Esports Students, from production crew to casting, host, observers, and more.
The British Esports Students Champs is now in its sixth season. It’s amazing to see the increase of schools competing and the quality of the players, teams, and matches. The Student Champs have always offered amateur grassroots players a chance to participate in competitive tournaments, and gain valuable experiences. “Throughout the history of the Student Champs, a number institutions have grown and developed their esports facilities alongside their esports offerings,” Andy Payne, OBE, chair of British Esports said.
