Rugby League Commercial announced that it has extended its partnership with Betfred for a record breaking three years. This means that the 10th year of the most important and extensive commercial partnership in sport’s history is set to take place in 2026.
Betfred has expanded their sponsorship to include the women’s Super League, the Women’s Super League, and the Men’s Super League. They also sponsor the England Women’s, Men’s or Wheelchair teams.
The new partnership represents a 25 percent increase over the previous record-breaking agreement. It includes a new full-size pitch for Wheelchair Rugby League, a revolutionary development for Wheelchair games. This unique new full-size covering will be used this Sunday in the Betfred Wheelchair Super League Grand Final, in Manchester. And again next month for England’s World Cup Final Rematch against France, at the first direct Arena, in Leeds.
In recent months, Betfred and RL Commercial, along with the Rugby Football League, have worked closely together with other sports and the Gambling Commission to develop a Sports Sponsorship Code. The renewed agreement takes into consideration the principles in the draft Code, to ensure that all parties are meeting their obligations.
Rhodri, Managing Director at RL Commercial said: “Rugby League’s partnership with Betfred is hugely important for the sport seven years after they became the title sponsor of the men’s Super League.
We are delighted that our relationship will continue for at least three more years.
As a company that was founded in Salford, and is still located in the North, where they employ many people, they share a lot of similarities with Rugby League. This is one reason the partnership has been so successful.
The Rugby League couldn’t have found a more valuable partner than Betfred, who has been a part of the sport for the past three years, including the Women’s Rugby League and Wheelchair Rugby League. We also now host two finals at Wembley and three England teams.
The 2023 season will see a significant increase in viewing and attendance figures. But the increased revenue generated by this deal is crucial to ensuring that our clubs can maintain and grow their unique role in the communities they serve.
This deal is unique as it includes a custom-made pitch cover that provides Wheelchair Rugby League with exciting opportunities to continue their growth after last year’s World Cup victory. This is yet another example of Betfred’s support for all levels of Rugby League.
Fred Done, the boss of Betfred, said that Rugby League had been one of their most successful and enjoyable sponsorships. The sport made me, my family, and the entire Betfred staff feel very welcome at every level.
The sport has worked tirelessly to make it one of the most inclusive sports in the world. It is essential that this includes both the Wheelchair and Women’s versions of the game. I am therefore delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to this by providing the new pitch cover for Wheelchair Rugby League.
I look forward to another weekend of great finals, and at least three more years of Betfred involvement with Rugby League.
