Nordcurrent, a developer and publisher, has launched a revolutionary update for its top mobile fashion game Pocket Styler with the launch a new creator Platform, Pocket Styler Studio. The digital platform lets players create their own clothing, shoes and other accessories according to their specifications. Digital designers can sell their designs in-game under their own designer label and to millions of Pocket Styler players for in-game currencies. This is the first time that this has been done in a mobile game.
According to Newzoo, the gaming skins industry is worth billions of dollars. Nearly 50% of players buy skins using in-game currencies, and 40% with real money. Conceptualising, drawing, and polishing collection takes time. And even though Nordcurrent artists supply over 100 items each week, Pocket Styler’s players wanted more items that were inspired by the latest fashion, movies, or celebrity looks.
Pocket Styler’s integration of user generated content has revolutionized in-game design. The integration of user-generated content into Pocket Styler has revolutionized the in-game design process. The feature also eased the burden on game developers and artists who struggled with creating new content. Designers upload over 2,000 unique items to the game each day. This is nearly 300 times the amount of content that was available before the launch.

Pocket Styler Studio is in beta testing since February. Over 1,000 designers have created items for the game. Another 5,000 are expected to upload every day in the first launch year, resulting in trillions of outfit combinations, as well as millions of new looks each week. Nordcurrent also tests the possibility of earning real currency in the future from designers’ designs.
Designers can save designs in their profile until they’re ready to market. Designers can measure the success of their brands by ‘publishing’ and assessing sales. The player can select a designer label name and earn Gems, the game currency, with every item they sell. Pocket Styler Studio can be downloaded globally. Players must have Pocket Styler on their phone and a Nordcurrent ID.
Pocket Styler, which will be launched in May 2021 is based around attending in-game events and creating looks that meet the criteria. Players then submit their looks, earn scores, and compete with each other to climb the leaderboard and become “trendsetters”. The game is downloaded 21 million times, and 100,000 users spend 10,000 hours per day on the app. They also vote for 10 million outfits every day.
