Svenska Spel presented its 2022 year-end report. The fourth quarter of the Group was marked by continued investments in new gaming experiences, and a focus on sustainable gaming. The Board of Svenska Spel proposes a dividend in the amount of SEK 2 Billion to the owner.
“I’m happy that the board proposes a dividend of SEK 2 Billion to the owner. Our surplus is one reason why we are Sweden’s largest gaming company. Svenska Spel’s 25-year history has seen us contribute more than SEK 100 million to the state treasury together with our customers,” Patrik Hofbauer (president and CEO) of Svenska Spel stated.
Net gaming revenue for the year 2022 is SEK 8036 Million (8144), which is a decrease by 1% over the previous year. Operating profit for the group amounts to SEK 2387 million (2488) which is a decrease by 3%. 30 % is the operating margin.
The net gaming revenue of the group for the fourth quarter was SEK 2185 millions (2233), a decrease by 2%. Operating profit was SEK 580million (601) which is a decrease by 3% and operating margin at 27% (27). Online business accounted for 48% (47) percent of the total revenue of the group during the quarter, an increase in profit by 1% over the previous quarter.
Comparing to the same quarter last years, net gaming revenue in the Sport & Casino area decreased by 8% during the quarter. The quarter saw an increase in healthy revenue. However, net gaming revenue was negatively affected by the strengthened gaming responsibility measures. Due to the FIFA World Cup’s timing and the fact that the Swedish national team didn’t qualify, there was less customer interest. There was also a break for many national football leagues during the WC which made it difficult to offer games like Stryktipset or Europatipset.
Net gaming revenue for the Casino Cosmopol & Vegas area will decline by 10%. Moreover, revenues will be negatively affected by strengthened gambling responsibility measures, especially for slots Vegas. However, the measures have the intended positive impact on the share healthy revenues. The deteriorating financial position of customers also affects Vegas’ net gaming revenues.
Customers can now swipe Triss to give as gifts in gaming experiences. Triss’s first digital Christmas calendar has been launched. The total number of Triss calendars sold increased by 5% over the previous year. There were 13 new digital lotteries launched during the year. The product pages for pool games were updated during the quarter. A World Cup tip was launched and Oddset was updated to include game packages. Casino Cosmopol had full Christmas tables and well-attended New Years dinners. There were also sold out poker tournaments in Gothenburg.
Svenska Spel distributed 76 millions winnings from number games and lotteries during the quarter. The total value of these winnings was more than SEK185 million. This amounts to 282 million winnings in number games and lotteries, with a total of SEK 782 millions. Twenty million winnings were earned by sports games during the quarter, with eleven of these being for Stryktipset. Stryktipset set a new record in 2015, when it earned 62 million dollars in profits. The total profit from the Sport & Casino area fell to 91 million in 2022. This is also a new record.
