SIS (Sports Information Services), has reached an agreement with Hong Kong Jockey Club for six races at the US$31.5 Million Saudi Cup race meeting held at King Abdulaziz Racecourse, February 25, to become HKJC World pool events.
In 2019, the Saudi Cup race day was established. Horses from 15 countries are expected to take part in this year’s Saudi Cup. The US$20 million Group 1 Saudi Cup feature race will highlight last year’s top 2 finishers, Emblem Road & Country Grammer.
The wagering pools for the Saudi Cup day races 3-8 will be hosted by HKJC. This will give bettors access the largest international commingled pool in the world. SIS will coordinate commercial arrangements with international pool operators. The first race will take place at 3:45 AST (7:45 EST).
World Pool is an extension to the HKJC commingling company. The HKJC accepts wagers from overseas partners in order to increase its large pari-mutuel pool for local Hong Kong racing.
The largest participant in the Saudi Cup Day pools has been North America. This deal will not only benefit the market with increased liquidity from Hong Kong but also attract additional operators from France, United Kingdom, Ireland and Brazil to join the existing operators from Germany and the Netherlands.
Michele Fischer Vice President, SIS Content Services stated: “As The Saudi Cup’s wagering distributor since its inception,” SIS is proud that the race day is included in the prestigious World Pool schedule. This allows us to expand the global participation and increase the number of followers for the Saudi Cup races.
“We are grateful for being included in the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s World Pool initiative to highlight the best international races.”
Sam Nati Head of Commingling Hong Kong Jockey Club said: “The Saudi Cup has already firmly established its place in the racing calendar, and we are delighted to have this meeting as part the World Pool. The World Pool schedule aims to include international racing events, so the Saudi Cup should be added to the roster in 2023.
