SBC Summit will be held from September 24 to 26 at Feira Internacional de Lisboa. It will offer a comprehensive insight into regulatory challenges, opportunities on the market, and emerging trends that are shaping the gaming industry.
The Global Markets Lounge is a highlight of the Summit. It features a series brief sessions led by experts on the most recent developments in key regional markets. Each 15-minute presentation will be followed up by a 45 minute discussion.
There will be 11 sessions covering a variety of markets.
Mexico
Mexico may face political changes after the elections in 2024. The market needs to prepare for these challenges. Operators are strategizing for different scenarios, as regulatory changes are a priority. However, there is no clear direction. Dr. Dr.
Africa
Africa’s tech-savvy population is a great opportunity for the gaming sector. This session will be led by Jeremiah Maangi Founder & Chief Executive Officer of iGaming AFRIKA. It will examine whether regulations will help or hamper new entrants.
Brazil
Brazil’s recent regulation on sports betting and casinos in land-based locations has spurred industry growth. Udo seckelmann will be discussing the sustainability of the boom, and the changing landscape of marketing and affiliate in Brazil’s sport culture.
Philippines
Marie Antonette “Tonet” Quiogue will present expert insights into the Philippines’ market dynamics. She is Principal at Arden Consultant.
USA
The sports betting market is consolidating in the USA, and new players are faced with the challenge of competing against a saturated market. Mark Balestra will be discussing the future of iGaming, new market entry possibilities, and the quest for regulatory consistency across states.
UK
The UK is by far the largest regulated gambling market in the world. This year, with the UKGC’s white paper on gambling and elections in 2024, could be pivotal. Will UK law changes have a ripple effect on the global gambling industry? Hear from Wes Himes Executive Director for Standards and Innovation, Betting and Gaming Council.
Portugal
Portugal’s iGaming industry posted record profits for Q1 2024. This was due to the growth of iCasino despite a decline in sports betting. Pedro Cortes and Luis Portela de Carvalho, Partners at Rato, Ling, Lei & Cortes – Advogados, examine the changing regulatory landscape and how it impacts operators, especially in regards to concerns about unsafe gambling practices.
Canada
Only one other province, Alberta, has announced plans similar to Ontario’s two years ago. Paul Burns will discuss the potential growth of the Canadian gaming market and which provinces could be the next.
Italy
Italy is Europe’s second largest gambling market and it is currently undergoing a major overhaul of its regulatory framework. Quirino Mancini will be discussing the implications of this change, including the expiration of all online licenses at the end the year, and new regulations regarding advertising and data protection.
Germany
Germany’s gambling market is facing challenges, such as the black market and restrictive regulations. Luka andric will provide insights on the potential of further market growth despite these obstacles.
India
India’s online gaming industry, which is still in its infancy, was stunned by the imposition a 28% tax on gaming revenue. Manav Bhargava will discuss this decision and its implications for the future of gaming regulation in India’s largest democracy.

On Wednesday, the sessions will be centered around Portugal, USA, UK and Philippines. On Thursday, the sessions will focus on Canada, Italy Germany and India.
