The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, (PAGCOR), officially opened the second leg in the 2024 PAGCOR Photography Contest Exhibit at The Grove at Newport Mall on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in Pasay City.
The 48 grand finalists from the PAGCOR photo contest 2024 are on display in this exhibit, which is held in partnership with Newport World Resorts. This exhibition gives the public an artistic glimpse of the harvest season.
The theme of this year’s PAGCOR photo competition was “Harvest Time.” Through the lenses of talented photographers, the contest captured the beauty, richness, and hard work of Filipino growers, farmers, and fishermen.
The 48 grand finalists of our photo contest, which was recently completed, were the most outstanding among the over 4,000 photos that we received. PAGCOR’s Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco graced the event ribbon-cutting.
He said that “each photo displayed here is a testimony to the incredible creativity and talent of Filipino photographers.”
The goal of the annual photo contest, Mr. Tengco said, is to encourage professional and experienced photographers to take part, but also budding photography enthusiasts, to explore their talent, celebrate their creativeness, and use photography to showcase the unique character, beauty, and traditions of our country.
NWR Chairman Kevin Tan, NWR President Nilo Thaddeus Rodrguez and NWR CEO Nilo Thadddeus Rodriguez were also present at the ceremony.
Rodriguez, for his part said that NWR is honored to host the exhibition of the winning pieces from PAGCOR 2024 Photography Contest.
He said, “We have been promoting Filipino talent for many years and we are proud to showcase the best of Filipino culture and talent in our hotels and services.”
Mr. Tengco announced the theme of PAGCOR’s next-year photo contest: Infrastructure for Economic Development.
He said that the theme of next year’s contest is to emphasize the importance of major infrastructure projects in the country, such as roads, bridges and airports.
The NWR exhibition, which runs until January 6, 2025 features “Expert Photographers Speak”, an appreciation session for photography with Jijo de Guizman and Jay Jallorina, two seasoned photographers.
De Guzman will present “Vision and Voice” on November 21, while Jallorina will speak on “Build, Build Capture”, which will focus on advanced techniques of photographing cities and infrastructure. Both talks will take place on December 6.
The public is invited to attend both photography sessions for free. They will take place at The Grove Newport Mall, 2nd floor at 2:00 pm.
