Innovative Technology Ltd (ITL), has made major updates to its MyCheckr Age Estimation Device ahead of EuroShop 2023, Europe’s largest retail show. The No. The 1 Retail Trade Fair EuroShop will take place in Dusseldorf Germany, February 26-March 2, and Innovative Technology will be at stand 6B46.
MyCheckr can perform anonymous age estimation. It can be used either as a standalone device, or integrated with self checkout kiosks (SCO). This is ideal for retailers who sell age-restricted goods like alcohol, tobacco, or vapes. ITL also announced that MyCheckr can now display targeted ads and collect anonymic information about customers in front of it. This will be displayed at EuroShop to retailers who are interested in AI-powered targeted ads or customer demographic analysis.
Dr. Andrew O’Brien is the Product Manager for Biometrics. He said, “We are very excited about showcasing the new functionality of MyCheckr. It can perform anonymous age estimations to assist the till operator. We can also integrate this functionality into self-service checkouts for an automated transaction. Our new spoof detection technology will be standard on all devices in order to prevent any fraudulent attempts. Come and test it out at the show.
“We’ve been in touch with major retailers about MyCheckr development and have received some great feedback. The MyCheckr screen is facing the customer. It occurred to us that we could estimate the age and gender of the customer so that ads can be targeted at that demographic. This would make the most of available space in a retail environment. It wouldn’t require additional signage or digital signage. Retailers need to have valuable customer information. We added analytics functionality to allow retailers to see which customers are visiting their shops. This allows them to plan for different groups of customers and even to determine the effectiveness of marketing campaigns to attract different customer segments. To protect the privacy of consumers, demographic data is collected anonymously.
MyCheckr protects minors from being sold age restricted goods.
