Responsible Wagering Australia has appointed Kai Cantwell its new chief executive, effective April 17.
His distinguished career includes senior leadership roles in policy development and service delivery in both the private and public sectors. He has led large, diverse teams through transformative change while maintaining the trust of the public in the delivery essential services.
RWA is fortunate to have Mr Cantwell as a Senior Public Sector Advisor for the cloud technology company Oracle. He has a wealth of legislative and regulatory experience. He was previously a senior executive in the Commonwealth Department of Social Services where he was the NSW/ACT State Manager.
The appointment of Mr Cantwell comes amid intense scrutiny and debate over the future regulation of the already highly-regulated Australian gambling industry.
RWA, Australia’s independent peak body for the licensed online gambling industry, is an important voice in promoting responsible wagering and advocating higher standards within the gambling sector.
Cantwell is a social policy and service delivery expert with many years of experience. He was the Chief Of Staff to federal Ministers. He also participated in the Government’s Expenditure review Committee, which oversees federal government spending during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He was also responsible for the coordination, implementation and development of the National Consumer Protection Framework for Online Gambling.
“With his vast leadership experience, Mr Cantwell can lead RWA and present an confident and united voice for its members,” Nick Minchin (Chairman of Responsible Wagering Australia), said.
