Leila Góelz is Chief People and Transformation Officer for Games Global
The iGaming sector is experiencing a growth period as the innovation continues to move forward. The industry’s fast pace is exciting and challenging for those who are involved. It is a great experience to be part of an industry and business that are growing, with plenty of opportunities for talented people.
It is true that the competition for talent can be challenging, but it also helps us build a culture of innovation and nurturing our talent. I am proud to be a part of an organization that values developing people, creating high-performing teams and cultivating a culture that encourages everyone to achieve their full potential. We strive to be like this at Games Global. To me, this is what it means to’make everyone a winner.’
Many fantastic companies are in our field, and as digitalisation increases, we have an increasing need for similar roles – DevOps Engineers or Developers. These roles are becoming increasingly important to the business operations of companies across industries. It is difficult to attract top talent. Candidates can receive multiple offers and the recruitment process has changed dramatically. It’s important to keep up with the pace of some companies, who are making offers in days.
We have to be more proactive in attracting talent due to the shrinking talent market. Games Global has met this challenge, and continues to recruit at a phenomenal rate. We are focused on engaging with candidates personally, building talent and continuously evolving our methods to attract talent. The selection process should not only be focused on us as an organization assessing candidates, but must also include a clear picture of the company, its culture and the role and help our candidates decide if we are a good fit. We believe people join people and not a business.
In the last three decades, we’ve seen a worldwide shift in attitudes toward remote and hybrid work. To accommodate this paradigm shift, companies are allowing more flexible work arrangements. Naturally, there are different opinions on the best way to go about this, but [our] employees still want to work in an office again with their team, to have face-to-face meetings or to simply enjoy a quick coffee chat. After all, we are social creatures.
In order to retain talent, Games Global is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. This will ensure that all employees feel a sense of belonging. Our values of Authenticity and Boldness, Togetherness, Creativity, and Innovation are encouraged and fundamental to the success and growth of our product offerings. We cannot expect to keep up with the pace of change if we do not have a multifaceted approach. We put a lot of emphasis on “culture add” rather than “culture fit”. Diversity in teams is important when you have a global audience and a company that caters to them. This allows us to understand the different cultures’ needs and wants. By adding diversity to a workforce that is already diverse, we can remain open-minded and aware of the positive contributions each individual can make to their teams and our business.
Despite the challenges that continue to exist, iGaming continues to prove itself adaptable and resilient. This is no different in terms of recruitment. We cannot forget that people are the foundation of any company. It is important for them to feel valued and connected to the business’ vision.
Games Global will officially launch in May 2022. We are on a journey to become ‘The One’. We are committed to supporting, developing, and promoting our employees with a focus and dedication on one of our key foundations, People. I am excited to see what we can achieve together.
