Team Vitality has become the first esports team in France and Europe to win the Paris Major. The number one ranked club on the HLTV ranking has won its first major title in CS:GO, ten years after its founding. The team’s journey was flawless, and they left their mark in the final tournament of the game before moving on to the much-anticipated CS2 later this summer.
Team Vitality had a strong start to the tournament, qualifying straight for the Legends Stage of the BLAST.tv Paris Major Championship. The team secured their spot in the quarterfinals after a stellar performance, with three resounding wins against G2, ENCE and Monte. The team was made up of Frenchmen Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut, Captain Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire and Danes Peter ‘dupreeh’ Rasmussen, Emil’magisk’ Reif and Israeli Lotan ‘Spinx’ Giladi. They gave an amazing performance, building on the momentum from their IEM Rio win in April.
Team Vitality, once they qualified for the playoffs and were able to perform for their fans, maintained a rock-solid attitude. The Golden Hornets and 60,000 spectators at the Accor arena supported the bee team who had never made it to the semi-finals in a major CS:GO event before. Team Vitality, who had already won the playoffs by beating Into the Breach, Apekz, and GamerLegion, made history in the Grand final, where ZywOo was crowned MVP.
“I’m filled with pride for our team, fans, families, staff and partners. The team’s performance was outstanding and will remain with us forever. This is what we got when we opened up the roster to include international talent who brought their unique talents to our team. This is also a reward for creating a team that was tailored to ZywOo’s needs, a French talent who has made us proud around the world. This trophy proves that, after 10 years, we are still writing the history of French esports around the globe,” said Fabien Neo Devide, President of Team Vitality and co-founder.
“We are experiencing an amazing moment of happiness. This team has achieved what we have dreamed of for years. The fact that we were at home in front of our loved ones made it even more emotional. We will never forget this. This is the culmination 10 years of hard work that has made Team Vitality what it is today: ambitious, strong and with many plans to grow the scene. We have just achieved a dream: To leave our mark in the history of CS:GO, by closing this mythical game and obtaining the biggest victory of French esport. We are looking forward to the future more than ever before, said Nicolas Maurer.
