Ski Challenge by Greentube has quickly become one of most popular sports games. This is just a few short months after the official launch. In collaboration with the ski associations and coshareholders of Austria (OSV), Switzerland and Germany (DSV), the NOVOMATIC Digital Gaming and Entertainment Division is planning a new and exciting innovation for the second season: The Nations Cup. It will begin in the autumn of 2023.
Ski Challenge, developed as a tribute for Greentube’s very first game published in October 2022, has enjoyed a successful first season. Its release on iOS and Android was met with more than half a millon downloads. The game has not only become popular with players, but also a platform for global brand partnerships.
The Ski Challenge Nations Cup is a new exciting tournament series created by Greentube, OSV Swiss-Ski and DSV in partnership with Greentube.
The tournament and multiple qualifying rounds are part of this exciting competition that invites players from around the world to compete for glory, honor and prizes. Not only that, but there’s more. Ski Challenge qualifiers for Germany, Austria and Switzerland will compete now as official national ski teams for their respective associations.
The tournaments will be held in parallel with the Ski World Cup. Ski Challenge hopes to expand its esports model and bring skiing’s passion into the virtual world with this expansion.
Michael Bauer said, “We’re thrilled to have been able to include a number new teams in the game, as part of Greentube’s Ski Challenge Nations Cup Update. These federations have a long history in the sport, and they give the game a new level of legitimacy. “We are confident that our loyal and dedicated player base will love these new additions, as Ski Challenge continues its growth as a premier title in esports.”
Diego Zuger is CEO Commercial Swiss Ski. “This is an excellent opportunity for skiing.” We will reach new audiences and develop skiing in general with the Nations Cup, and our entry into esports. “The successful collaboration with Ski Austria, the German Ski Association and Greentube shows what is possible when you work together.”
Stefan Schwarzbach is the Board of Communication for the German Ski Association. “With this Nations Cup, as associations, we want to establish direct connections to skiing and to our top athletes. Ski Challenge has become a popular platform for inspiring children and youth to ski. “In the medium-term, our ski clubs and clubs of all kinds should also benefit.”
Christian Scherer is the Secretary General of Austrian Ski Association. “We are extremely excited to launch a series of virtual tournaments that will revolutionize skiing and bring countries together. This initiative will expand the reach of skiing and incite the competitive spirit among skiers around the world. This is one of the most important announcements for 2023, as we embark on an exciting journey to create a memorable experience for everyone involved.
