From 5 to 7th June, the annual conference of Gambling Regulators European Forum (GREF), was held in Bergen, Norway. Around thirty regulators from Europe attended the conference. They discussed topics of interest such as player protection and fighting illegal gambling.
The General Meeting elected Isabelle FALQUE PIERROTIN as the new Chairperson of the Board for a two-year term. The Board is made up of:
- Anders Dorph (Spillemyndighedens – Danish regulator), Vice-Chairm ;
- Tim Miller, Treasurer (UK Gambling Commission);
- Sarah Kelly, Secretary (Alderney gambling control commission);
- Magali Clavie, Atle Hamar and Kinga Warda are ordinary members.
GREF aims at strengthening cooperation between regulators. Cooperation is essential to help regulators better understand market trends and to develop legitimate and effective solutions.
The next GREF Annual Conference will take place in Malta in 2024.
Isabelle FALQUE PIERROTIN said: “At a time when innovation is accelerating, challenging existing regulations and the public is concerned about player safety, European level has become crucial. Our exchanges are fruitful and we are facing questions that are common. In this highly complex period, I think that regulators need to have a voice, that is heard by all stakeholders, and that protects players.
