Cactus Production launched their new demo yesterday for An Everyday Story at this week’s Steam Next Fest. The studio has just released their first game and the new demo marks another milestone in the development of An Everyday Story.
Allesio Oliverva, Narrative lead designer at Cactus Production said: “Since An Everyday Story is our first game, we initially struggled in the early stages of development. But thanks to a long learning process and hardwork, we have pushed through, and are almost finished with development!” We cannot thank enough our core team members for their hard work, but also the contractors who worked with us. Both groups were amazing despite the difficulties “.
“Our main objective is to create a relationship with our players. We always wanted to tell stories which felt relatable and personal. In order to achieve this, we tackle universal themes such as family, loss and love. The stories that are universal are those that transcend cultural and generational barriers, said Roberto Vergine. Founder of Cactus Production.
The History
An Everyday Story, a 2.5D horizontal story-driven platform game. Three trinkets, which represent his relationships with loved ones, will be used to explore the memories of a man. This story follows the life of an Italian-American from his childhood in 1970 to his old age in 2020. When he was 7 years old, his father is killed in battle. This will make him live his entire life fearing abandonment by those he loves. He was interested in artisanship from a young age. So he traveled to Italy to learn more and discover his roots.
Characters
Steam Boat – Symbol of love between protagonist and wife. The boat is able to pull and carry heavy objects with its anchor. It can also navigate water, and push objects in order to move them.
Tin Soldier is the protagonist and he holds onto this memento because it’s the last thing he remembers of his father. The tin soldiers can swing and grapple metal objects, shoot small objects down and use a parachutist to reach places that are otherwise not accessible.
