What motivated the WebStudio Team to enter the field of artificial intelligence?
Tatsiana Sokolovskaya, the Design Team Leader, was intrigued by my idea in September 2022. A LinkedIn post highlighted the trend of professional designers integrating AI apps and services into their designs.
The potential of this new innovation was evident to me, given the volume of work that our studio does in graphic design, such as creating visually appealing page layouts for our clients and selecting attractive graphics. Tatsiana, other designers and I discussed relevant examples to illustrate the possibilities.
We were fascinated by this new trend and embarked on an exciting journey to learn more. Our design team responded positively, which led us to integrate artificial intelligence into our design process. We gave a group of designers a trial subscription and asked them to train the AI tool to create creative layouts over a period of a month.
This idea was very inspiring to me as I realized the benefits that it could bring both our designers and clients. I also wanted to motivate my team to use AI, and encourage them to try new things. We devised a plan with our team to master the application. We defined the initial tasks, and we monitored the progress. Now, I’m immensely proud of what we accomplished: Comparing the original layouts created using AI assistance with our current projects shows the growth and development our specialists have made. The team’s enthusiasm is what truly inspires me, not just their tangible achievements.
Could you give us some insight into the development of online casino projects using SOFTSWISS’ WebStudio and how designers use AI?
Typically, our creative journey begins by obtaining a detailed brief from the client. This includes their exact requirements and wishes. The client might imagine an image of a tropical paradise in bright colours, with beautiful aesthetics, complete with parrots, and other elements that fit the theme. Our illustrator and designer then embark on a search for inspiration and references to help them create the new project. The designer, guided by the concept of the project, creates several layouts. These are then presented to the client and reviewed for possible revisions.
This process is time-consuming and requires a lot of effort. It can take a few weeks, or even more, depending on how complex the project is, what feedback and requirements are from clients. WebStudio’s primary goal is to deliver an end product that perfectly aligns with client expectations, while providing outstanding service.
Artificial intelligence is a powerful ally in this multifaceted process. AI is used to create the layout, and it’s triggered by clever queries. Designers can outline the scope of AI by specifying keywords such as ‘old jungle towns’, “grass-covered bridges”, “realistic images”, and more. The app will generate a variety of images that align with the designer’s parameters, while also offering different compositions, content, and details.
While the content of these images is consistent, they vary in their presentation and form. Our illustrators and animators then meticulously process these generated images. These serve as the basis for multiple templates that will be shared with clients.
Based on your expertise and that of SOFTSWISS, what are the major advantages of integrating AI in the design process?
I’d like to highlight the significant improvements we’ve made in terms of reducing turnaround times for initial layouts. We can now create a variety of images that are high quality and have intricate details. Each image has its own unique essence. This process used to take several weeks. Now, our clients can get dozens of layout options in a much shorter time. Our AI and expertise allows us to provide a greater variety of logo variations. We have optimized the quality, speed and quantity of our work, achieving what was once considered impossible.
Artificial intelligence gives our designers a new level of creativity and freedom. Now that they have more images to work with, their creativity is heightened. Our designers are also actively improving their ability to ask precise questions in order to get the best results from AI, based on specifications. They contribute to AI’s ongoing training, ensuring that the best outcomes are achieved in the future.
You mentioned that you wanted to encourage the team to use artificial intelligence. Was it a success? How has AI-based team engagement been affected?
I wanted to inspire the creative spirit of my team by igniting their motivation. The day-to-day tasks often leave little room to embrace novelty and new ideas. AI introduced a new dimension to the designer’s workflow by allowing them to take on a variety of tasks.
We invited designers to completely reimagine an existing online casino template and fully embrace the capabilities of AI. They were asked to create banners, graphics, and other elements according to their preferences. This was a great opportunity for the students to experiment, practice and develop ideas that might not have been aligned to previous client needs. We were able to offer our clients a variety of templates.
The experience was a great source of inspiration for us. The competition sparked their creativity, allowed them to improve their skills, and allow them to dive deeper into AI. This unlocked their inherent potential. They are ready to take on new challenges.
WebStudio’s AI integration has prompted the creation and launch of a new innovation department. Our primary focus in the short-term is to develop and scale up AI implementation. Our designers must be able to translate visual concepts into AI queries with precision. We aim for excellence in this area. We will be able to create layouts that exceed the expectations of operators and players, by leveraging this amazing assistant. We are committed to harnessing innovation in all areas of the iGaming industry.
We made a huge step forward as we began using AI to create animated images and layouts. This innovative approach improves the final product, making it more appealing to clients and players.
The AI integration not only has created a stimulating, engaging environment for our team, but it has also revealed a whole world of possibilities and opportunities that were previously untapped. Our designers embrace AI’s potential and are excited to explore this exciting field with deep-seated curiosity and enthusiasm.
Are you concerned that AI could replace designers in online casino project?
Let me dispel the myth that AI will replace designers and illustrators when it comes to online casino projects. Artificial intelligence is a tool to accelerate their work and amplify their creativity. Consider it as a valuable assistant.
AI is not a replacement for creative design, just as cinema hasn’t replaced theatre. It provides designers with more options and opportunities, which enhances their creative journey. AI can suggest or generate ideas and images, but it is up to designers to refine, post-process, and transform these ideas into the final design. Designers give layouts a unique feel, edit them if necessary and work with clients to get the desired results.
Artificial intelligence lacks creativity, intuitiveness or the capacity to grasp emotional aspects in design. Artificial Intelligence is not able to produce meaningful designs that evoke emotion. Designers need creativity, inspiration and imagination to create unique designs that reflect the subject and theme of a project and convey emotions.
AI-driven design of online casino projects can streamline and accelerate the development process, but it does not reduce the role of the designer. Combining human creativity and experience with artificial intelligence yields the best designs. There is no reason to worry that AI will replace designers.
