On July 11, 2023, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), celebrating its 40 th anniversary at the Marriott Hotel Manila, looked back proudly on its achievements.

PAGCOR celebrated its 40 years of existence by highlighting its achievements, especially its enormous contributions to nation-building. The agency was established in 1983 through Presidential Decree 1869 (also known as the PAGCOR Charter), issued by then-President Ferdinand Marcos.

The event was graced by none other than Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., who proudly highlighted PAGCOR as one of the biggest revenue generators for the national government and a partner that is reliable in promoting various endeavors to benefit the Filipinos.

Alejandro H. Tengco, Chairman and CEO of PAGCOR, stated that the total recorded Contributions to Nation Building for the agency over a period of 40 years was around P607 Billion, whereas its total dividends payments since 2011 are now P64 Billion. PAGCOR now has a total contribution of P671 Billion.

Tengco stated that PAGCOR had a total CNB of P45 billion after the first year of the Marcos administration (July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023). This is expected to increase to P70 billion by the end the year.

PAGCOR’s chief also announced that his agency was tapped to fund the Universal Health Care Act, when it became law in 2019. According to this law, 50% of the remittances of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation to the National Treasury will be allocated to PhilHealth to fund Universal Health Care for the Filipino people.

PAGCOR has recently contributed to the infrastructure of City of Dreams Manila by partnering with Melco Resorts Foundation Corporation (MRPFC), the charitable arm of Melco Resorts. The partnership funded the construction of and the purchase of non-medical and medical equipment for the 51 bed, state-of-the art Presidential Security Group Station Hospital.

In partnership with Bloomberry Foundation and the state-run gaming and regulatory company, PAGCOR also assisted in the establishment of the OFW Hospital Pampanga, and donated medical equipment worth P300,000,000 to said medical facility. PAGCOR donated P842.5 to the Philippine Sports Commission for the rehabilitation of the sports facilities used during the 30 th Southeast Asian Games. The agency also donated P350,000,000 to the Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City, for the purchase of medical equipment.

PAGCOR’s resources will be directed to education and health promotion in the country under the current administration. The agency will relaunch its School Building Project in order to address the classroom shortages in public schools across the country. The agency will also create e-Libraries for learners in remote or depressed areas to have an environment conducive to e-learning.

In addition, Socio-Civic Centers and Community Wellness Centers are also in the works to be built across the country. The agency will also launch the “Bawat Buhay Mahlaga Serbisyo” Caravan – a comprehensive initiative aimed at providing educational, medical, and financial aid, among other things, to local government units and citizens.

In coordination with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the agency will also donate 250 units of Patient Transport Vehicles to local government units.

PAGCOR is also leading the establishment of Clark Multi-Specialty Medical Center, in Clark, Pampanga, to serve the medical needs for patients from Regions 1, 2, 3, and Metro Manila. The center will include a kidney/cancer centre, a children’s ward, and a heart clinic. This project aims to improve the lives of Filipinos living outside Metro Manila by providing them with quality healthcare.

PAGCOR’s chief said that without the dedicated employees who served as the agency’s strong pillars over the past four decades, the agency’s important socio-civic programmes would not have been feasible.

The launch of a new logo was the highlight of this event, as it represents the agency’s renewed role as the primary gaming regulator in the Philippines.

The new PAGCOR Logo incorporates an element of fire that is associated with passion, energy, inspiration and transformation. The flame represents the change that is ignited and progress. The logo also reflects a lighthouse which represents leadership, guidance and direction. Tengco said that the logo represents a lighthouse which helps people to find their way.

“These combined, PAGCOR’s new logo reflects its long-standing commitment to be a guiding light that illuminates and drives the future, as well as bringing inspiration and motivation into the lives of those it touches,” said Chairman Tengco.
