Allwyn, the incoming licensee of the Fourth National Lottery Licence outlined some next steps to be taken by National Lottery retailers in advance of the switchover date on 1 February 2024.
Allwyn will contact National Lottery retailers in order to inform them of how to electronically transfer their current Retailer Agreements from Camelot, so that they are ready to start the new license.
In order to ensure that retailers do not experience any interruptions to their National Lottery services, they will need to complete this by the 18th December 2023. Communications and reminders are expected to increase over the next few months.
As part of the transfer, retailers will have access to a portal online where they can view their new Retailer Agreement. Camelot Retail Sales executives, working for Allwyn, will visit retailers in the coming months to explain the changes and answer any questions before signing the Agreement via the portal. The portal is smartphone-compatible and includes a “how to” video as well as written guides that will make the transfer process as simple as possible.
The new agreement will maintain the same commission rates for National Lottery Draw Based Games, Scratchcards, and prize payments. Payment terms will also remain the exact same. Allwyn will also automatically take over any existing Direct Debit mandates and bonds.
Allwyn will also remove the monthly lease fee for existing Compact Lottery terminal (CLT), retailers in the Fourth Licence, (saving some retailers as much as PS600 per annum), and introduce additional player protection and support measures.
Most of the changes in the Agreement are a result from changes to law or changes related to the Fourth National Lottery Licence, for example.
- Simple name changes to reflect Allwyn’s new operator
- Modernisation of certain of the terms used in the Agreement
- Updates to some conditions are necessary to reflect recent changes in laws, particularly in data protection and recordkeeping.
- Camelot has merged the two agreements it had with its terminals into one.
Allwyn and Camelot also have a joint timeline for what retailers can expect in the six months leading up to the 1st of February. Momentum In-store will continue to conduct site surveys until the end September. They also plan to hold a number of Lotto and EuroMillions events in the summer and fall, as well as National Lottery activities (such as festive Scratchcards or special event drawings) during Christmas.
Retailers can expect to receive an “Allwyn Welcome” package early in the new year. This pack will include more information about what to expect on 1 February, including the first details of the improved National Lottery Games from March 2024. Retailers will receive details about the digital training required before the switchover.
Retailers don’t have to do anything in the interim until they receive the details of the portal.
Katharine Chatlinor, Allwyn’s Director of Retail, stated: “Retailers can expect to hear from us soon about how they can easily move their Retailer Agreement. Camelot Retail Sales Executives will visit the store to answer questions and guide them through this process. “We’d like this opportunity to thank National Lottery Retailers for their continued support, and for the part they play in raising PS30,000,000 every week for Good Causes throughout the UK.”
