Superbet Group is the largest sports betting operator in Romania. It also happens to be one of the fastest-growing betting companies in Central and Eastern Europe. OKTO has announced a strategic partnership. OKTO will adopt the fintech provider’s omnichannel payment technology.
Superbet’s online and retail channels have activated the unified payment platform, providing digital payment experiences for customers across multiple touchpoints. The OKTO.WALLET solution can now be found in all Self-Service Betting Terminals of the Superbet Network, at over 1,000 points of sale across the country. In Electronic Gaming Machines, the cashless option will be available to support the group’s digitalization strategy. This will enable customers to have a secure, convenient, and safe experience through an advanced digital payment service.
Ciprian Lazar from Superbet Group, Director for Romania Retail & Multichannel Operations, explains the importance of the partnership. “We are a company that has global growth ambitions and pays close attention not only to its customers’ needs but also to the most recent technological developments. OKTO is widely acknowledged as the leading digital payment provider in the market. It provides complementary solutions to Superbet’s digital strategy. These solutions are consistent with the group’s efforts in responsible gaming and compliance, as well as all laws imposed in countries where Superbet and its brands are present.
Superbet online also has quick and easy access the OKTO.CASH eVoucher cash payment solution through the integration of OKTO’s unified platform with Nuvei’s alternative payment methods. Superbet customers who are iGaming clients can now load their iGaming accounts with cash using OKTO’s collaborating network that includes over 25,000 points of sale in Romania.
Luca Giancola, Head Antifraud, Payments & Risk Payments, Superbet Group, focuses his attention on the benefits and advantages of alternative payment methods. “Innovation is in the DNA of our company, so it is important that we work with people who are knowledgeable about the intricacies and who use advanced technology in order to provide the best payment solutions for our customers.
OKTO’s strategy aligns with ours and we share a common commitment to investing in customer experience excellence at all stages and channels.
Simon Dorsen (OKTO’s Chief Commercial Officer) states that “our partnership with Superbet aligns with our mission not just to digitalize physical payment experiences as demanded by current consumers but also to allow users to transact seamlessly across multiple touchpoints and channels in a secure way via a single payment experience.”
This new partnership will satisfy both the compliance and safer gaming requirements of regulators. Dorsen acknowledges that it is a strong endorsement from a brand whose vision has been backed by the Blackstone Group, one of the largest private equity funds in the world.
“OKTO is proud to partner with Superbet, one of the most ambitious and technologically advanced sports betting brands in Europe. Romania is also a strategic market for us, and we want to continue investing in the local presence,” says OKTO’s business leader.
With the inclusion of Blackstone, an American investment fund, into the shareholding of Superbet Group’s sharesholding, technology has been a driver of rapid growth for the Romanian firm. It aims to gain access to international markets with a strong regulatory framework in the gaming & betting industry.
The partnership between Superbet Group & OKTO is a solid confirmation of the digitalization strategy. It will also cover all business areas. This is an important step towards creating an omnichannel model that will continue offering clients an exceptional, high-quality experience in both retail and digital.
