ESL FACEIT Group and FIBA (International Basketball Federation) announced the inaugural season for FIBA’s official NBA(r), 2K23 tournament: eFIBA Saison 1.
eFIBA hosted three successful editions in 2020 and 2021 of FIBA Esports Open. Season 1 was launched on social media.
Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Secretary General, stated that “We are excited about FIBA’s eBasketball Tournament on NBA2K23 and the upcoming tip off of the eFIBA Season 1” and his collaboration with EFG. “These seven tournaments will give National Federations the chance to compete against the top eBasketball national team in the world, continuing on the momentum from the FIBA Esports Open Events in 2020 and 2021.”
Roger Lodewick (President Sports Games at EFG) stated that “The NBA2K game and community is among the top three sports game titles worldwide.” We are thrilled to begin this long-term cooperation with FIBA, and to develop and serve the eFIBA Community. This will allow us to offer eBasketball competitively online, and the community bold and exciting events both online and in person.
This tournament consists 7 regional online events in all four FIBA Regions (European, Americas and Asia).

There are 30 National Federations that have been divided into six conferences. They will compete for the title of Conference Champions during the intense first season.
PARTICIPATING NATIONS
AFRICA: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Madagascar, Morocco, Tunisia
AMERICAS: Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Puerto Rico
ASIA: Qatar, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mongolia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia
EUROPE: Belgium. Cyprus. France. Germany. Great Britain. Italy. Latvia. Lithuania. Portugal. Spain. Turkey. Ukraine.
Each Nation Federation is represented in a team consisting of at least five players. Each player plays their own avatar in-game.
Several champion Nations of the FIBA Esports Open 2021 are taking part in the inaugural season eFIBA. They will need to be at their best. Each of the 30 nations participating in eFIBA will have the best NBA 2K23 players around the world. Season 1 will be full of emotions, from joy to frustration.
The eFIBA Season 1 is all about national pride, as the best players from each country compete on the court for glory for their country.
