the Federation Internationale de L’Automobileis pleased to announce the latest partnership it has formed with the International Esports Federationin the fight against abuse of online sport. The agreement was signed at the 8 th World Esports Summit, in Busan, Republic of Korea. General Secretary Boban Totovski, UAOA Campaign leader Erin Bourke, and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem were present.
The IESF, which unites technology and competitive sport under one banner, is at the forefront of this digital revolution. The IESF now represents over 140 countries. The IESF has consistently promoted Esports, a sport that transcends language, race and culture barriers, as a real sport. This culminated in eight world Esports Summits and several World Championship events.
The FIA’s collaboration with the IESF is a sign of commitment to fostering a welcoming and safe environment for all those involved in competitive sport. Both federations pledged to:
- Support the development and promotion of scientific research.
- Establishing effective frameworks to respond to online abuse, including clear guidelines for all stakeholders.
- Develop and implement educational programs to educate competitors, officials and entourages as well as fans about online abuse.

The IESF & FIA invite other federations & stakeholders who are passionate about preserving integrity of the sports ecosystem to join this coalition.
The FIA United Against Online Abuse Campaign
The ‘United Against Online Abuse Campaign’ (UAOA), spearheaded by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem is a collective stance taken against the epidemic of online abuse in sport and hate speech within the sporting eco-system. The FIA Foundation is supporting the campaign. The coalition aims at bringing about behavioral and regulatory change by uniting sports federations, national governments, regulatory institutions, and technological platforms. Our approach is based on research, and we’re committed to taking action for the safety of our athletes, officials, spectators, volunteers and entourages. The UAOA coalition, to date, has received the endorsement of the governments of France, Greece and Slovenia. They have also held extensive discussions with the governments of Belgium, Brazil Malaysia, Spain Mexico, Monaco Singapore, China, Japan Jamaica and the UK. Dublin City University is our main research partner in academic, technological and institutional relations. Discussions are ongoing between UNESCO and Mozilla Firefox. FIM, ASETEK Sim Sports and Peace, Sport Monaco, and the International Esports Federation have all signed the Charter. In the near future, 17 more federations will be joining the coalition, including FIFA and the IOC.
