In a rematch from last year’s European Championship Erik ‘Eki’ Tammenpaa representing the New York Islanders defeated Teemu ‘Temppanen’ Karvonen, representing Anaheim Ducks, to win the EA SPORTS NHL 24 European Championship. Eki has now won six European Championship titles (2018, 2019 2021, 2020, 2022 2023, and 2024). He also earned another $15,000 in earnings. Temppanen finished second in the competition held at the Copenhagen Media Facility, in Copenhagen Denmark, on Sunday evening. Both players will be representing Europe for the second consecutive year at the EA SPORTS NHL 24 World Championship in New York in April.
Eki, a 24-year-old native from Helsinki, Finland is a YouTube and Twitch expert as well as an EA SPORTS ™ NHL 24 expert. He is the most decorated NHL esports competitor and will attempt to win the World Title again after finishing as runner-up at the EA SPORTS NHL23 World Final last year.
Temppanen, Eki and NikkeDangles qualified for the World Final today in Copenhagen by competing in a best-of-3 semifinal round. Both players split their two first games. Temppanen eventually overtook NikkeDangles in a tight competition, and Eki defeated Eken45Jr by eight goals in a Game Three Shutout.
The Championship Series saw Temppanen and EKI face off again in a rematch from last year’s EA Sports NHL 23 European Final.
