The annual gambling law and regulations conference Regulating the Game announced that Dr Ron Ben David, Deputy Chairman at the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission(VGCCC), will be the keynote speaker for its 2025 edition.
Dr Ben-David, who has extensive experience with regulatory and governance reforms, will speak about his experiences after a period of significant reform for Victoria’s gaming industry and casino, including the establishment of VGCCC, to better supervise the operations of Crown Melbourne.
He has a diverse background as a Professorial fellow at the Monash Business School, Monash University and principal of Solrose Consulting. He served as full-time Chair of the Essential Services Commission of Victoria between 2008 and 2019. He led numerous reforms. In 2008, he headed the secretariat of Professor Ross Garnaut’s climate change review. He also spent a decade in the Victorian Public Service as a senior leader.
Dr Ben-David is known for his open-mindedness and willingness to question conventional wisdom. He has written and presented extensively on reforms in market, governance and regulatory issues. His involvement with organizations like ClimateWorks Australia and the Consumer Policy and Research Centre, as well as the Regulatory Policy Institute, further demonstrates his commitment to effective regulatory practice.
