NOVOMATIC’s commitment to sustainability is demonstrated by the installation of the largest photovoltaic array in its Group. The headquarters in Lower Austria has more than 4,600 solar panel covering an area of 20,000m2. They were ceremoniously inaugurated in the presence the Governor of Lower Austria Johanna Mikl Leitner, the Executive Board of NOVOMATIC and the Mayor of Gumpoldskirchen Ferdinand Kock.
The company will be able to cover a large part of the energy requirements of this site with a PV system that is equivalent to three football fields. This green electricity is not only used to power the company’s offices and production areas, but also the dedicated charging stations of its e-vehicles. The situation is similar with international subsidiaries located in countries like Germany, Italy and Spain. They also have dedicated PV systems that provide a large portion of their energy needs.
Johanna Mikl-Leitner is the State Governor of Lower Austria. She says, “Lower Austria has been a leader in developing wind energy and photovoltaics.” Lower Austria already produces half of the Austrian wind energy and a quarter the photovoltaic power in the country. This is possible because many companies invest in renewable energy sources to help ensure a greener and more sustainable future for the state’s economic engine. “Thank you for your investment and the confidence placed in Lower Austria as an economic hub.”
The completion of the largest photovoltaic facility of the Group is not only a milestone in the sustainability strategies of NOVOMATIC AG but also a signal that we intend to promote a strong, efficient and sustainable energy future. The Executive Board of NOVOMATIC AG Group says that only taking responsibility can guarantee business success on the long-term.
The installation of the new PV systems on areas that are already developed helps NOVOMATIC reduce its carbon footprint and saves more than 1,100 tonnes of CO2 every year. This is the equivalent of planting 90,500 trees to compensate for CO2. As Europe’s largest gaming technology company, the concept of “Going Green”, is deeply rooted in its comprehensive ESG program. The company, in addition to expanding the use of solar photovoltaics throughout the Group, is also focused on monitoring resources and expanding the e-mobility. All with the aim of permanently reducing international CO2 emissions.
