Genius Sports Limited has been awarded “FIBA Approved Software Status” for its innovative Second Spectrum tracking technology, and Sportzcast, its scoreboard data solutions.
The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre was established nearly 30 years ago. Its mission is to promote the growth and development in basketball by ensuring the best quality, safety, and performance of basketball equipment. FIBA’s goal is to encourage innovation and make available new technology that will enhance the sport of basketball for players, fans and media.
After a rigorous evaluation, Genius Sports’ Second Spectrum technology has been approved and admitted to the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre. Genius Sports’ advanced machine learning and computer visual tracking solutions capture advanced basketball metrics like player speeds, distances, and defensive impact.
FIBA has approved ScoreLink, a robust solution developed by Sportzcast for capturing and distributing live scoreboard data. ScoreLink integrates with FIBA LiveStats – the most popular data collection in basketball that has collected more than a million games in 150 countries since 2008.
Bart Prinssen from FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre said, “Through the FIBA Approved software program, we can explore how technology could support the growth of basketball.” “We are proud that we have a platform that helps to increase awareness and adoption of technology in the basketball community.”
Steven Burton, Chief Partnerships officer at Genius Sports said that the admission of the Second Spectrum and Sportzcast technologies into the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre was the latest milestone in our 20-year relationship with FIBA. “We are thrilled that FIBA validated our technology, and has given us permission to offer our innovative scoring and tracking technologies to their members, broadcasters, and partners around the world.”
