GRIPNR will launch The Glimmering on March 30. This next-generation TTRPG game is designed for Genesis Collection NFT heroes. It allows players to track their character’s progress via the blockchain. Over a three-day period, the company will mint phase 2 of its characters collection. These characters can be purchased for 250 MATIC (which is more than a Jpeg; I can tell what holder benefits include) and are available to play on-chain. Players will not be able to take the NFTs they have minted with promises of future utility. Instead, they will schedule sessions to play The Glimmering the next day. This is a first.
It was recently announced that Jimmy McNeils (a.k.a. NFT collector) would be forming a strategic partnership. j1mmy.eth will bring several of his Mutant Apes, which are Bored Apes that have been mutated with Mutant Serum to The Glimmering to play as villains. This collaboration will be honored with a future Glimmering Mutant Ape derivative collection.
Justin “Angryblue”, Kamerer, GRIPNR Lead Artist will reimagine the Apes and they will be part of future adventures in The Glimmering. Glimmering’s Genesis Collection heroes owners will get first dibs on the Glimmering Mutant Apes when they are released in spring 2023.
The Glimmerings take place in a small corner of Asuwa, a world in the Moonstone Empire. It is a magical world. The world of Asuwa is full of danger, but riches, fame, and glory await those who are willing to risk it all. The six first adventures of The Glimmering are available to character levels 1-3. They are rooted in a modified 5th Edition ruleset so players who are already comfortable with D&D can seamlessly transition to The Glimmering without learning a new system.
All games can be tracked using the Polygon blockchain. Players can also track loot and character development. Each character’s artwork will change as they level up based on their in-game results. NFT holders can also influence their rarities. Players can resell their digital collectibles, which include characters, weapons and armor as well as treasure, that they have purchased through play.
The Glimmering’s creators are among the most talented in their respective fields, including art, technology and storytelling. GRIPNR, a New Orleans-based technology company that brings tabletop games to blockchain, is based in New Orleans. Its mission is preserve the magic of traditional TTRPGs and expand player capabilities beyond the traditional gaming realm to the blockchain.
