GGTech Entertainment has acquired NUEL, which is the UK and Ireland organiser for Amazon UNIVERSITY esports. GGTech Entertainment is a leading esports firm. NUEL will become the UK & Ireland office of GGTech Entertainment, a leading esports company. This strategic acquisition will increase NUEL’s core activities in university esports while also planning and delivering a variety of grassroots esports & gaming activities.
NUEL will operate under its current name, but with a greater focus on the player-facing brands that are associated with each project – for example UNIVERSITY Esports. NUEL’s senior management will remain at the company. Josh Williams, NUEL’s founder, will lead GGTech’s global UNIVERSITY Esports program. David Jackson will remain as the Managing Director for NUEL, and Peter Cole as the Head of Product.
NUEL has created a board of directors that will oversee its operations. This board will include GGTech’s senior management, as well as Josh Williams and David Jackson.
NUEL has now direct access to GGTech’s resources and expertise, which have experience in delivering world-class events at a global level. The company will be able to offer better and more engaging experiences to players in the area, while also providing more opportunities for young professionals who are trying their best in the industry. NUEL has a proven track record in delivering grassroots esports events. This acquisition will allow NUEL to grow not only in the UK & Ireland but also contribute to GGTech’s global activities.
NUEL and GGTech collaborated heavily in recent years. This included work on Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports, the premier international university esports tournament in Europe, as well as the Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports Masters. The two companies share a similar vision to build gaming communities and support grassroots esports.
NUEL staff and students have had the opportunity to work with GGTech on international projects, including traveling to GGTech facilities in Alicante and working on flagship events like TFT Dragonlands Championship. This move will expand and facilitate these opportunities for staff and players.
Jose Parilla is the CEO and founder at GGTech. He said, “We are constantly looking for new ways to expand and develop our services across the globe.” NUEL is a great partner to help us enhance the experience for both players and staff. We can also share our excitement and commitment for the UK’s esports sector.
Since 2010, NUEL’s mission has been to increase access to esports, create memorable experiences for the players and provide meaningful opportunities to advance their careers. NUEL founder Josh Williams said, “We have worked with GGTech since years, they share our dedication to these goals and I am excited to embark on this next stage of our journey as a part of GGTech.”
