In the petition, the petitioner asks the President to order an investigation into the arbitrarily imposed sanctions on the company
The petition, which asks President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to reconsider the decision to impose sanction against Parimatch LLC, has received more than the required 25,000 signatories 14 days before the deadline. This is because the Ukrainian public has rallied behind the Company’s fight to defend the rule of Law in Ukraine and to unblock the Company’s popular services.
According to Ukrainian law, an official petition with 25,000 signatures will be sent directly to the president for his consideration. Zelenskyy has 10 days now to take action in this case, which has become an issue of great importance for thousands of Ukrainians. They want their country to be a successful democratic nation where the rule is respected and firmly established.
Parimatch is a well-established international online sports betting company with customers on three continents. The business was founded in Ukraine. Ukraine sanctioned the company earlier this year, and it was banned from operating within Ukraine for 50 years. This has affected hundreds of thousands citizens who are unable to access their funds. The ban was a result of an unfair and flawed investigation which falsely stated that the Company was conducting business in Russia.
Parimatch provided an independent expert legal opinion that confirms that the Company terminated its third-party license agreements with Russian entities immediately following Russia’s illegal invasion in Ukraine, which was March 2022. It was necessary to terminate the software and trademark licenses it had previously with a Russian entity. Full information about the sanctions against Parimatch can be found on the website https://justice4business .com/en/ that provides extensive documentation about the unfair sanctions and the Company’s legal position.
Maxym L. Liashko is the Managing Partner at Energame – Parimatch Management Company. He said
“We are Ukrainian patriots.” “We are Ukrainian patriots.” Our countrymen and women agree unequivocally. From the very first day of the invasion, we have stood up for our country and halted any legacy business with the aggressor. We are confident in the fact that Ukraine will become a democratic European nation, where people can do business and live freely under the protection of the law. We are confident that our President will act in the best interests of Ukraine, as a champion for the rule of law, liberal democratic values and the protection of the law.
“We are all in agreement that the Ukrainian authorities have the right and duty to sanction entities or people who seek to undermine their country. Sanctions can be a powerful weapon in the fight against invaders and supporters. Parimatch is a good example of how mistakes can be made. Any sanctions regime must therefore include a robust appeal and review system .”
Parimatch has also pledged its support to the Ukrainian army, and for the wider war effort. This support is ongoing and totals 547 million hryvnia (about $14 million). Parimatch, a company with strong Ukrainian roots and a global business, will continue to support Ukrainian sovereignty despite Russia’s illegal aggression.
