Gaming Innovation Group announced today that the Rizk brand of online casino is now available in Germany. The platform powered by GiG, which has won numerous awards, was chosen because it met the requirements set out under the new German nationalised gaming authority.
The launch is part of Betsson’s Zecure agreement that saw Betsson acquire GiG B2C assets by April 2020. This relationship continues to grow, and now includes multiple brands across nine regulated markets in Europe and Latin America. Rizk is looking to gain from the expertise of a team that has been behind a well-established brand for many years.
GiG’s B2B Platform, which has won multiple awards in the industry, including the ‘Full Service Platform of the Year’ award for 2023, is well-suited to regulated markets such as Germany. It combines GiG’s experience with an agile tech stack, to ensure that it can adapt and scale up to any changes to regulatory frameworks. GiG’s commitment to compliance is reflected in its regulation in 29 markets globally, and 8 more are in the pipeline. This will provide a wide range of growth opportunities to tier 1 partners like Betsson.
iGaming legislation in Germany has been subject to a number of changes since the Fourth State Treaty on Gambling came into effect in July 2021. The appointment of the new federal regulator, Gemeinsamen Glucksspielbehorde des Lander (GGL), on 1 January 2023, has given Germany’s policy, licensing controls and market monitoring to a national regulatory body for the very first time. The changes are expected to provide operators and providers with a solid foundation for them to grow the German igaming industry into one of the largest in Europe over the next few years.
